EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) is an experiential approach to learning & skills development. Expect to team up with a horse and navigate obstacles & challenges on the ground (no riding). These are fun & unique experiences that have defined objectives to meet. With scientifically proven results, EAL is hands-down the best way to achieve lasting change in personal & professional growth.

Reservations are required!
We operate on private property with a one lane/one way road in and out. Therefore we need to schedule and know when traffic will be coming and going. We appreciate your understanding.
-
No. Currently, Tacktics Galena does not offer any horseback riding.
-
Nope! Even if it’s your first time seeing a horse you’re welcome here at Tacktics.
If you’re feeling nervous however, you may want to do a Mini Experience first, but this is not required.
-
We’d recommend starting with a Mini Experience then! We have multiple miniature horses and 2 miniature donkeys that are a lot easier for apprehensive people to approach. Corral Catch-ups will give you a chance to get comfortable with the smaller horses and meet the big herd too.
At the start of each session, comprehensive safety around horses is taught. Plus, participants have time to get to know their horse. We can also use the mini horses in your session. Please let us know so we can ensure everyone is comfortable and fully enjoy their time with us!

Closed toed shoes are a must! Beyond that, we will be outside working with the horses so dress comfortable and appropriate for weather.

Under an EAL environment horses become incredible teachers for humans to become better humans. They hold no judgement towards people, yet they are acutely receptive to us. Trained facilitators look for ‘teachable moments’ that horses identify with participants. Horses live fully in the moment. And, due to them being prey animals, they are extremely sensitive to the stimulus of each participant. Likewise, they cannot lie. Horses are impeccably honest and give immediate feedback. They react to stimuli through body language which the facilitators interpret. Participants can then adjust their feelings/actions to work successfully with the horse. Together, horses give participants life-changing experiences.

We do sessions rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. Safety procedures are in place in cases of high wind or lightning. In such cases, sessions may be cancelled &/or rescheduled.
