About us

Tacktics Galena is founded by Cathy and CJ Wolfenden, a mother-daughter duo. Over the years, they saw horses have a profound effect on people; and not just in the saddle. This inspired them to create opportunities for people to have these experiences.

Cathy’s family farm where she grew up, with it’s 150 year old barns, was an obvious location. Its quaint, rustic charm, and stunning views of rolling hills and farmland, set the tone for people to unplug.

With their warm, friendly, and jovial demeanor, Cathy and CJ immediately put people at ease. Upon entering the arena, it’s clear their horses are also at ease. Whether it’s the 300lb minis, or the 1500lb Quarter Horses, these animals are gentle and want to spend time with people.

This duo also brings a touch of international flair. They lived overseas in New Zealand for just under 20 years. In their spare time, they share interests in good food, gardening, travel, boating, and of course a love of horses.

Their international travel gave them an appreciation for human diversity, and how unique each person is. Horses see this immediately in each person. They make no judgements, can’t lie, and give immediate feedback. And that is where the human/horse connection begins.

Cathy carries an internationally acclaimed certification in Equine Assisted Learning, and both she and CJ hold certifications for Emotional Intelligence Coaching. Together, they have created fun events and activities for people to experience horse/human connections. They use an international building block curriculum to create fun courses that have people learning about themselves and bettering their Emotional Intelligence skills, for both personal and professional gain.

Whether you come for an event with the minis, a challenge, or a team building session- Cathy, CJ, and their horses look forward to having you at Tacktics Galena.
